FAQ

Who should come on this trip?

Anyone and everyone is welcome on this trip. Egypt is a beautiful and exciting country with so much to experience. Those interested in joining us on this trip should come with an open mind and be ready to immerse themselves in a culture that may be very different from their own. This tour is designed to emulate the experiences you may have seen in Doug's YouTube videos. There will be light physical activity involved throughout the trip (climbing stairs, monuments, etc.), but nothing overly strenuous. In March, Temperatures in Egypt typically range from 13° - 23° C (55° - 74° F). We will send a detailed recommended packing list to confirmed participants.

Is Egypt safe?

Egypt welcomes millions of tourists every year, and is generally a very safe place to visit. As in any country, visitors should follow common sense guidelines in order to have the best experience possible (keep valuables secure, avoid flashy clothing/accessories, etc.). Throughout the duration of the trip, you will be accompanied by experienced American and Egyptian guides. If you have more specific questions about safety & security in Egypt, get in touch with us.

Who are the guides?

The tour will be led by American and local Egyptian tour guides.

Doug Barnard is an American traveler and YouTuber. He has significant experience traveling throughout Egypt and the Arab world, and recently led his first group trip to Iraq in October 2022. See his experience in Egypt on his YouTube channel.

We'll be traveling with iEgypt, one of Egypt's most reputable tour companies, for the duration of our trip. iEgypt employs the most knowledgable, fun, and experienced guides in Egypt.

What are the hotels like?

We will be staying in a variety of accommodations during our trip. These accommodations range from four star hotels, to quaint but well equipped local "camps". All accommodations include beds, bathrooms, and breakfast. Rooms will be shared doubles and triples. If you would like to have your own room, we can arrange this at an additional cost.

What is the food like?

Egyptian food is delicious and we'll be eating a lot of it! You can expect a mix of meat and vegetarian dishes. Included in the trip price are 12 group meals - the rest are independent. We feel this gives you the best opportunity to try as many different foods as you'd like, while also keeping the trip price affordable. Many meals in Egypt can cost as little as a few dollars. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies so we can accommodate you!
